Admissions and Applications

Application type

Direct

Entry requirements

Undergraduate: Applicants must have completed, or be in their final year of, a recognized secondary/high school qualification with a minimum overall average of 90% or equivalent. This applies to U.S. high school diplomas and Canadian secondary-school curricula, with academic results evaluated in the context of the applicant’s curriculum. Strong performance in mathematics and STEM subjects is expected, particularly in advanced mathematics during the final years of high school. SAT/ACT scores are not required, though strong scores may strengthen an application. Coding experience is not required but may provide a competitive advantage.

Applications, dates and deadlines

Applications opened on September 1, with a priority deadline of November 15 and a final deadline of Feb 1 for undergrads and December 15 for grads.

How to apply

Applications and submission process:

Students apply directly through the MBZUAI online application portal; no third-party application platform is required. Undergraduate applicants submit an online application, official high school transcripts/records, personal statement, CV, English-language proficiency documentation where required, and optional recommendation letters, technical portfolio, and extracurricular achievements. Students still completing high school may apply with predicted/provisional results and must provide final official documents before enrollment.

Standardized testing

For undergraduate applicants, SAT and ACT scores are not required for admission but may be submitted as part of the application and can strengthen evidence of academic readiness, particularly in mathematics. AP and IB results may also be submitted as supporting academic evidence but are not mandatory. MBZUAI’s undergraduate screening exam is required for applicants unless an eligible waiver is granted; a qualifying SAT score may be used to obtain a screening-exam waiver.
